Tommy Fleetwood Academy

Tommy Fleetwood is one of the best golfers in the world!

Having broken into the world’s top 10, he reached back to where it all began for him here at Formby Hall.

Tommy Fleetwood at Formby Hall

Having grown up in Southport, Tommy Fleetwood learned to play here at Formby Hall. He won the club’s junior champion title in 2003 and made his first hole-in-one on the 16th hole at just 12 years of age.

Tommy represented Great Britain & Ireland in the Walker Cup in 2009 and secured his first professional win at Formby Hall in the 2011 PGA Euro Pro Tour.

Today, Tommy is one of the world’s best. He’s a six-time DP World Tour winner, was crowned Race to Dubai Champion in 2017 before going on to finish as runner up in the US Open the following year. In 2023, playing his third Ryder Cup for Team Europe, Tommy was part of the historic Ryder Cup win.

In 2025, Tommy achieved his first major, winning the PGA Championship in Atlanta.

The Tommy Fleetwood Academy

Tommy’s historical connection to Formby Hall is why he chose to open his first Tommy Fleetwood Academy at the club - the TFA Formby Hall - in 2019 under the leadership of his junior coach, Normal Marshall.

The TFA Formby Hall offers a range of coaching programmes with both one-to-one lessons and group coaching for men, women and juniors. For juniors, the academy offers a structured, progressive programme suitable for golfers of all abilities. Head Coach Norman uses his decades of experience and time with Tommy to write a programme that includes the games and drills that Tommy used as a developing golfer. Children can learn for fun or can be coached to compete at national and international level - as do many current juniors at the academy.
