The Old Course
This 18-hole championship parkland course, close to Liverpool & Southport, set in 135 acres of tree-lined splendour offers the perfect setting and test for all golfing enthusiasts. Its endless challenges including tree lined fairways, large undulating greens, reveted bunkers and numerous lakes and ponds, provides the ideal setting for you to put your game to the test.
Hole 1 - 350 Yards Par 4
The key to this opening hole is the positioning of the tee shot which will make the approach into the green slightly easier. If you can split the fairway bunkers it leaves around 135 yard approach, easier said than done for the first shot of the day!
Hole 2 - 177 Yards Par 3
With a lake to catch any errant shots, this tee-shot requires precision. The green is well guarded by its six bunkers making club selection crucial.
Hole 3 - 478 Yards Par 5
A short Par 5 in length but don't let that fool you. Strategically placed bunkers makes this tee shot demanding, as a venture into these riveted bunkers a shot dropped. With a good tee-shot brings dilemma, should you go for it or not?
Hole 4 - 349 Yards Par 4
A tricky Par 4 with well placed bunkers on the right and a lake on the left makes for a tight tee-shot. A short approach shot over southport water feature into a narrow green makes for a testing hole.
Hole 5 - 437 Yards Par 4
This long dog-leg Par 4 requires a good drive as a fairway bunkers awaits on both sides and a visit to these is a shot dropped.
Hole 6 - 168 Yards Par 3
A tough Par 3, with water in front, on the left and behind the green. This means a pinpoint shot is required. With the wind predominantly against it, this makes club selection difficult. A Par 3 is a good reward for a good tee-shot.
Hole 7 - 503 Yards Par 5
A tough Par 5, with the wind making this a difficult hole. It takes 3 well struck shots to reach this green and it’s a tricky layup with bunkers and water waiting for error.
Hole 8 - 397 Yards Par 4
A tree lined fairway makes for a tight tee shot with fairway bunkers on both sides. This par 4 plays longer than its yardage and it is generally into a strong headwind.
Hole 9 - 378 Yards Par 4
This tricky approach into an undulating green is guarded by four greenside bunkers and has a hidden bunker at the back of the green. With out of bounds beyond the green, be cautious.
Hole 10 - 296 Yards Par 4
A deceptive short Par 4, its length suggests an easy birdie, but disaster waits. With water all down the left hand side and a cluster of bunkers on the right, making it one of the most demanding tee-shots.
Hole 11 - 374 Yards Par 4
A good dog-left Par 4 with the emphasis on an accurate tee-shot which makes the approach shot a little easier.
Hole 12 - 459 Yards Par 4
A demanding tee shot into the corner of a dog leg, a carry of 130 yards over water and out of bounds all down the left. Bunkers strategically placed on the right hand side means this is the toughest of drives.
Hole 13 - 222 Yards Par 3
With the prevailing wind into the face from Southport, this par 3 plays longer than its yardage. Out of bounds all down the left and 5 greenside bunkers makes this a difficult green to hit.
Hole 14 - 583 Yards Par 5
If you manage to thread your way between the bunkers, a generous green awaits with 4 greenside bunkers. A par 5 feels more like a birdie down here.
Hole 15 - 452 Yards Par 4
This is one of the most difficult approach shots on the course. A green surrounded by water and numerous bunkers guarding this entrance make it difficult to hit, especially as you are generally going with a long iron ere even a fairway wood.
Hole 16 - 175 Yards Par 3
A picturesque par 3, but don’t be fooled by its appearance as it is the toughest par 3 on the course. With a 130 yard carry over water and copious bunkers make this a real challenge. To add to its difficulty the crosswind from southport makes club selection very important. You can feel relieved to leave this hole with a par 3.
Hole 17 - 367 Yards Par 4
A tight tee shot through the trees into a fairway protected by bunkers on the left and a lake on the right.
Hole 18 - 529 Yards Par 18
This final hole gives you no rest, a par 5 with water all down the left and on the right, makes for a great challenge. A good drive leaves a tough 2nd, laying between the lakes.
